Physics Just the Basics Series #08 - Myocardial Perfusion Imaging: Principles and Methods

ABOUT THIS PRESENTATION

Peter Kellman, Senior Scientist in the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute at NIH, will discuss the basic principles of myocardial perfusion imaging including the mechanism of first pass contrast enhanced perfusion and description of saturation recovery imaging. The presentation will cover commonly used protocols for stress imaging, imaging protocol tradeoffs, and artifact mechanisms. The presentation will include advanced topics of myocardial perfusion quantification, dual sequence, and arterial input function estimation.

ABOUT THE WEBINAR SERIES

In response to feedback provided by the global CMR community, the SCMR Education Committee is proud to announce a pilot MRI physics webinar series,  SCMR WEBINAR SERIES: PHYSICS JUST THE BASICS. Radiology trainees, CMR imaging trainees, those new to CMR, MRI technologists, and anyone else who has an interest in learning the simple fundamental concepts of how MRI works should participate in the webinar.

The basic format of the webinar will consististed of a didactic lecture for 30-45”, followed by a question and answer period for the remainder of the hour.  The difficulty level of the physics presented will be targeted toward clinicians.
