In response to feedback provided by the global CMR community, the SCMR Education Committee is proud to announce a pilot MRI physics webinar series, SCMR WEBINAR SERIES: PHYSICS JUST THE BASICS. Radiology trainees, CMR imaging trainees, those new to CMR, MRI technologists, and anyone else who has an interest in learning the simple fundamental concepts of how MRI works should participate in the webinar.
The first lecture was held on Wednesday, September 25 at 10 AM (EDT). Dr. Anthony Aletras of School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and Cardiac MR Group, Lund University, Sweden will kick-off the lecture series with “The MRI Signal”. This webinar will focus on how the MRI signal is generated from the patient’s magnetic dipoles and how an image is formed by using magnetic gradient fields. This material will provide the basis for discussing pulse sequences in future webinars.
The basic format of the webinar will consististed of a didactic lecture for 30-45”, followed by a question and answer period for the remainder of the hour. The difficulty level of the physics presented will be targeted toward clinicians.
